Present: ~~ Gerry Casiello, Chairman; John Shaban, Vice Chairman; Marshall Sanford; Joe Ventricelli, Ted Ogonek; Gary Miyashiro; Amy Atamian
Also Present: Bob Flanagan, ZEO; Robert Dean, Redding Planning Commission
Mr. Miyashiro was seated for Mr. Gordon who was absent. Ms. Atamian was seated for Mr. Shaban, who arrived after the meeting began and Mr. Ogonek was seated for Mr. Ventricelli who arrived after the meeting began.
PUBLIC HEARING – Zoning Commission—Amendments to Zoning Regulations.
MOTION: ~Made by Ms. Atamian and seconded by Mr. Sanford to open the public hearing. Carried unanimously.
Robert Flanagan, Zoning Enforcement Officer, asked that 9 documents received be entered into the record. One comment was received from SWRPA, showing no concerns and a favorable referral was received from the Planning Commission. There were no responses from the Board of Selectmen or Town Attorney.
Robert Dean, representing the Planning Commission, has been instrumental in proposing the amendments to the regulations and spoke briefly with regard to the amendments. Mr. Dean explained that the intent is to bring the buildings out to the sidewalk, creating a “building wall” along the street. In response to a question from Mr. Casiello as to liabilities, Mr. Dean said that the Town is protected from liability and the amendment will not increase liability. There will be no impact on building size.
Ralph Bosch, who owns several properties on Main Street, spoke in support of the amendments.
Mr. Flanagan reviewed the amendments.
MOTION: ~Made by Mr. Sanford, and seconded by Mr. Miyashiro to close the public hearing at 8:00 p.m. Carried unanimously.
