ZONING COMMISSION
PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES
AUGUST 11, 2010
Present: G. Casiello, Chair; B. Gordon, T. Ogonek, A. Atamian, G. Miyashiro
Also present: R. Flanagan, ZEO, and four members of the public
Mr. Ogonek was seated for Mr. Shaban, Ms. Atamian was seated for Mr. Ventricelli, and Mr. Miyashiro was seated for Mr. Sanford.
Mr. Casiello called the Public Hearing to order at 7:30 pm.
Public Hearing: Richard and Barbara Paris, 5 Main Street, Site Plan Application
The legal notice of the Public Hearing was read by Mr. Gordon.
Motion: move that the Public Hearing be opened. Miyashiro, Atamian. Approved. Unanimous.
Mr. Flanagan reported the application is in order and all fees have been paid. The folder of documentation was submitted. This included letters of approval from the Planning Commission and Health Department. The application was submitted under the revised regulations of Sec. 5.6.9, whereby a donation of a small parcel of land within 50 feet of the building to the street is made to the Town of Redding in exchange for relief from the parking requirements.
Richard Paris addressed the Commission regarding the change in use of his building at 5 Main Street. The current workshop on the first floor will be relocated to the second floor. He will create a café with an automotive theme on the first floor. The facility will be limited menu restaurant with 30 seats. There are no planned changes to the footprint or structure of the existing building.
Ralph Bosch and William Dexter, property owners in Georgetown, both spoke in support of the application.
Mr. Flanagan reported that a phone call from Michael Calise, an abutting property owner was received. Following a discussion of the application with Mr. Calise, he had no objection to the request.
Mr. Casiello noted that the Board of Selectmen has formally accepted the donation of land from the owner. Letters of approval from the Planning Commission and Health Department was presented.
Motion: move that the Public Hearing be closed. Gordon, Miyashiro. Approved. Unanimous.
The Public Hearing was closed at 7:57 pm.
