Also Present: Bob Flanagan, ZEO
Absent: Ben Gordon
Ms. Atamian was seated for Mr. Gordon.
MOTION: ~Made by Mr. Sanford and seconded by Mr. Shaban to open the public hearing. Carried unanimously.
PUBLIC HEARING –
Michael Marushak, 21 Deer Hill Road - Discuss with Commission a Special Permit/ Site Plan review.
Mr. Flanagan read into the record the following lists of items received for this file:
1) Redding Zoning Special Permit Application form.
2) Applicants Site Plan Checklist
3) Applicants Special Permit Checklist
4) List of Abutting Property Owners
5) Letter of Intent
6) Site Plan Map
7) Legal Notice Published in the Redding Pilot – 3/11 & 3/18
8) Letter of Referral to the Redding Board of Selectman; Planning & Conservation
9) Conservation Permit # 09-36 – dated January 12, 2010
10) Letter from the Redding Planning Commission in favor of the permit.
11) Return Receipts for mailings to all abutting property owners.
After purchasing the property, Mr. Marushak began clearing dying ash trees from it, intending to clear and level a play area for his children. He was unaware that a permit was required. All that is left to do is level a small area and in the front and back, bring in approximately five truckloads of topsoil for seeding, and install a curtain drain. Te Conservation Commission has approved this plan.
Caroline Stegerson, 9 Deer Hill Road, lives down hill from the subject property and expressed concerns with drainage issues and noise from tree removal equipment. Cass Klonicke is aware of the drainage issues but expressed overall support for the project. John Urban, 15 Deer Hill Road, also commented on the water and noise issues.
Correspondence from the Conservation Commission confirming their January 5, 2010 approval with standard conditions was received.

New Pond Farm, 101 Marchant Road – Discuss with Commission a Limited Duration Permit for Paul Winter Consort Concert to be held on Sunday September 12, 2010 from 3:00pm – 5:30pm. First time event.

Grant Mudge was present to answer questions from the Commission. There will be a woodwind orchestra playing new age jazz at minimal volume. This event is part of the 25th Anniversary Celebration of the farm, and funds received will benefit the farm. This is not planned to be an annual event. There is no rain date, and parking will be provided in the pasture area.
Laura Ruggiero, 100 Marchant Road, expressed support of the event.
