PUBLIC HEARING

Heritage Center-Town of Redding – Discuss with Commission a Limited Duration Permit for “Holiday Gift Fair” to be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Community Center Gym

MOTION: Made by Ms. Atamian and seconded by Mr. Sanford to accept the call.

Present to answer questions from the Commission were Gail Schiron, Director of Human Services and Marie Sibilio, Heritage Center Senior Services. This event was previously held without approval, as Ms. Schiron was not familiar with the approval process. There will be no traffic problems and the event was successfully held last year, generating over $1,000 in revenue for the Town.

MOTION: Made by Mr. Sanford and seconded by Ms. Atamian to close the public hearing.

Redding 350 Climate Action Committee-Discuss wit Commission a Limited Duration Permit for “Day of Climate Action” to be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a rain date Sunday October 25, 2009 on the Redding Town Green.

Mr. Gordon arrived after the public hearing began and Mr. Miyashiro was unseated for this item.

Present to answer questions from the Commission were Elizabeth Melville and Lisa Bunce. Ms. Melville explained that no traffic issues were anticipated and that Rob Blick, Director of Park and Recreation, would allow her to use traffic cones to denote allowable parking area along Rote 107, Hill Road. It was unknown how many people would attend, but Ms. Melville expects up to 50 people at a time to gather to hear speakers throughout the afternoon. A representative from a nearby “green” business would be on hand to sell items such as water bottles and lunch boxes, and other “green” businesses would distribute brochures. This is not a revenue producing event.  The Commission’s only concern was with possible traffic problems, as Hill Road is a state road.

MOTION: Made by Mr. Sanford and seconded by Mr. Ventricelli to close the public hearing.

The public hearing closed at 7:40 p.m.

                                                Respectfully Submitted,
                                                        Val Koniecki, Clerk
