June 10, 2009

Present: ~~ Gerry Casiello, Chairman; John Shaban, Vice Chairman; Ben Gordon, Secretary; Marshall Sanford; Joe Ventricelli, Gary Miyashiro

Absent: Amy Atamian

Also present: Bob Flanagan, ZEO



1) Approval of Regular Meeting Minutes April 22, 2009  
MOTION: Made by Mr. Gordon and seconded by Mr. Shaban to approve. Carried unanimous.

4) Connecticut Yankee Council, Boy Scouts of America, 3 Marchant Road – Discuss with Commission Amending Special Permit/Site Plan for Training Facility.
Brad Kocka was present to answer questions from the Commission. The plan has been changed to reflect an altered location of the shooting platform, which is now 515 feet from the nearest dwelling. The scouts will be the only agency using the range. Mr. Casiello read a letter into the record from Chief of Police Douglas Fuchs, stating that the plan was now compliant with safety regulations.
Mr. Flanagan recommended a condition of approval to be that Lt. John Leonard accompanies him on the final inspection.

MOTION: Made by Mr. Shaban and seconded by Mr. Sanford to approve with the condition that Lt. John Leonard accompany Bob Flanagan on the final inspection. Carried unanimous.

5) Joel Barlow High School- Discuss with Commission minor amendment to site plan installing a scoreboard on existing softball field.
Mr. Flanagan did speak to Walt Czudak with regard to this issue. (Mr. Czudak was not present at the time the Commission addressed this issue, but did arrive after a decision had been made. At that time, the Commission had no questions.) This scoreboard is similar to a scoreboard recently installed on the hardball field.

MOTION: Made by Mr. Sanford and seconded by Mr. Gordon to approve. Carried unanimous.

6) Redding Country Club, 109 Lonetown Road- Discuss with Commission a minor amendment to site plan pertaining to turf fans.
Attorney Randy DiBella was present to answer questions from the Commission. The fans will affect 5 greens and be in use between June and September. The purpose of the fans is to reduce surface temperature and keep the greens dry. Mr. Casiello recommended a public hearing be set to address this item. A public hearing date of July 8, 2009 was set.

7) Redding Boys and Girls Club, 170 Cross Highway- Discuss with Commission Limited Duration Permit for Annual Barbeque to be held on Saturday June 20, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Previously held last year on June 21, 2008.

MOTION: Made by Mr. Shaban and seconded by Mr. Sanford to approve. Carried unanimous.

Discussion:  1) Potential future changes to zoning regulations – Gerry Casiello, Chairman
       2)  Possible update at future meetings on Georgetown Land Development/Wire Mill Project status
                   3) Mr. Flanagan announced that the draft of the electronic version of the zoning regulations   is done      
and that the amendments are being added. Completion is expected over the summer.
