REGULAR MEETING

Approval of Minutes- April 9, 2008
No meeting was held April 23, 2008 due to lack of agenda.

MOTION: Made by Mr. Gordon and seconded by Mr. Sanford to approve as amended as follows: Mr. Miyishiro was briefly seated for Mr. Ventricelli, not Mr. Shaban.

Redding Boys and Girls Club, Redding Ridge—Discuss with Commission Limited Duration Permit for Boys and Girls Club Barbeque to be held on Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Previously held before.

MOTION: Made by Mr. Casiello and seconded by Mr. Sanford. Carried unanimous.

Redding Boys and Girls Club, Redding Ridge—Discuss with Commission Limited Duration permit for Boys and Girls Club Fiddlestick National to be held at Joel Barlow High School from 9:00 a.m. to 7”00 p.m. on Saturday August 9, 2008, rain date Sunday August 10, 2008. Not previously held before.
This event is a Mini-Sticks event, which is a miniature version of lacrosse, and is a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Club. A Public Hearing will be scheduled for June 11, 2008.

Sixty Redding Road, LLC Elio Cavicchia—Discuss with Commission Site Plan Approval for an 1800 square foot one half story commercial building at 60 Redding Road, Georgetown, CT.
This is a new structure. A Public Hearing will be scheduled for June 11, 2008.

Sign Regulation--

MOTION: Made by Mr. Casiello and seconded by Mr. Sanford to approve as amended as follows:
Sec 5.9.1(b), the definition of the measurement of sign area “shall comprise that area enclosed by continuous straight lines connecting the extreme points or edges of a ‘Sign’. This area does not include the main supporting sign structure but shall include multiple signs attached to a single sign structure.”
Sec 5.9.1(c), the definition of area of the “Sign”, “shall comprise the entire surface area (all faces) on which the message is inscribed and the number of faces, or separate message bearing services, is limited to two(2) per sign.”

Sec 5.9.3(a) will read: “Exterior Signs: When painted on or applied to the principal building wall or awning, such signs shall not exceed a total area of one half (1/2) square foot for each lineal foot of the principal building walls or 200 square feet, whichever is less, provided that no single sign shall exceed (40) square feet in area. For buildings having multiple occupancy, allowable sign area shall be divided among the occupants by the owner of the property. Location must conform to side yard setback requirements. Maximum sign height: (12) twelve feet.”

Sec 5.9.3(c), Window Signs, will read: “One (1) placard or neon advertising sign may be located on the inside of a window of a business establishment, provided that such sign (i) does not cover more than thirty percent (30%) of any single window and (ii), contains replaceable exhibits which advertise merchandise, services or special events at the establishment in which the sign is displayed.”

The motion carried unanimous.

Discussion

The Pre-Approval Workshop scheduled for May 28, 2008 may not occur.
