Zoning Commission Minutes 09/27/2006
Present:        Frank Taylor; Chairman, Joseph Ventricelli, Ben Gordon, Amy Atamian, Marshall Sanford, and John Shaban

Absent: Gerry Casiello and Gary Miyashiro

Also Present:   Dennis Tobin, Assistant ZEO

CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Frank Taylor called the regular meeting of the Redding Zoning Commission to order at
7:30 p.m. and seated Amy Atamian for Gerry Casiello.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 13, 2006
Page 2 of the minutes of September 13, 2006 was amended to remove “the swale and” in
the 5th paragraph.

MOTION:  Mr. Sanford made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of
September 13, 2006 as amended.  Mr. Gordon seconded the motion and it was carried
unanimously.

MOTION:  Mr. Gordon made a motion to approve the minutes of the public hearing of
September 13, 2006 as submitted.  Mr. Sanford seconded the motion and it was carried
unanimously.

GLDC - Second Amendment to the Master Plan Site Plan and an amendment of
the recently approved Site Plan for Main Site
Richard Gibbons was present for the application and explained that they will be replacing two
single family dwellings with two townhouses.  Building N1 is also being reduced and the
affordable housing will be relocated.  There will also be additional land placed into open space.

The Conservation Commission has approved this application and the Planning Commission has
scheduled a public hearing for October 10, 2006.

MOTION:  Mr. Shaban made a motion to approve the second amendment to the Master Plan Site
Plan and an amendment of the recently approved Site Plan for Main Site.  Mr. Sanford seconded
the motion and it was carried unanimously.

GLDC and Sierra Club of Connecticut-Limited Duration Permit for Smart Growth
Informational Program
Richard Gibbons was present for the application and explained that they are applying for a
limited duration permit for an event to be held on October 21, 2006.  The event will be co-
sponsored with the Sierra Club.  A Smart Growth Presentation is planned followed by a walking
tour of the facility which will be limited.  

They are not sure of how many people to expect, but the Sierra Clubs feels that there may be
around 40-50 people.  They will have at least one police officer and parking will be in the lot.  

A building permit will be obtained by the building department for the tent.  

MOTION:  Mr. Sanford made a motion to schedule the public hearing for October 11, 2006 at
7:30 p.m.  Mr. Gordon seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously.  

CORRESPONDENCE
The Town of Easton is holding a public hearing to amend their regulations.  Mr. Sanford will
review the information and make comments.

Mr. Sanford explained that there has been an excessive amount of signs in town for which he did
contact Mr. Gormley.

ADJOURNMENT
MOTION:  Mr. Sanford made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:41 p.m.  Mr. Shaban seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously.
