Zoning Commission Minutes 7/12/2006
Present:        Gerry Casiello; Vice Chairman, Marshall Sanford, Joseph Ventricelli, Ben Gordon, Gary Miyashiro, John Shaban and Amy Atamian

Absent: Frank Taylor, Chairman

Also Present:   Tom Gormley, ZEO and Dennis Tobin, Assistant ZEO


REGULAR MEETING
Acting Chairman Gerry Casiello called the regular meeting of the Redding Zoning Commission
to order at 7:30 p.m.  Mr. Miyashiro was seated for Mr. Taylor.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF JUNE 28, 2006
The minutes were so noted as being a public hearing.  That should be amended to indicate a
regular meeting.

MOTION:  Mr. Gordon made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of
June 28, 2006 as amended.  Mr. Sanford seconded the motion and it was carried
unanimously.

1.      New Pond Farm, 101 Marchant Road
A representative from New Pond Farm was present for the application and explained that Lockwood Gardens has been hired to do landscape work.  Plans were submitted to the Board and reviewed.  

Laura Ruggiero was present and stated that she is concerned that the plantings may not be tall enough.  

It was requested by New Pond Farm, that the plantings be done in the fall.  

MOTION:  Mr. Gordon made a motion to approve the buffer plantings as presented.  Mr. Sanford seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously.

Mr. Shaban entered the meeting.

2.      Mark Twain Library, Book Fair
Mr. Gormley explained to the Commission that his only concern with this application is the amount of signs they had last year.  He did speak to their representative who stated that he would bring this up at their meeting.  

MOTION:  Mr. Sanford made a motion to approve the Mark Twain Library Book Fair to be held September 1, through 3, 2006 at the Community Center with the provision that only four offsite signs are permitted.  Mr. Miyashiro seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously.


COMMUNICATIONS
Mr. Gormley introduced Mr. Dennis Tobin, Assistant ZEO to the Commission and explained that he will be primarily working the GLDC.  

Mr. Casiello reviewed the communications and read the letter by Mr. Ford to the Commission.  Mr. Casiello feels that his concerns are a police matter and not a Zoning issue.

ADJOURNMENT
MOTION:  Mr. Sanford made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:47 p.m.  Mr. Gordon seconded the motion and it was carried unanimously.
