WATER POLLUTION CONTROL COMMISSION[Marker]
SPECIAL MEETING
July 1, 2008
Present: R. Regan (7:15 pm), P. Moisio, D. Robinson, J. Shaban, L. Hutvagner, A. Nosal
Mr. Shaban called the regular meeting to order at 6:15 pm in the Hearing Room of the Town Office Building.
DISCUSSION OF WPCC FINANCIAL REPORTS
Attendees discussed the Town’s method of recording and tracking WPCC finances and the related accounting system.
Suggestions were made on how the Water Pollution Control Commission can improve its accounting system and better record and recognize liabilities by recognizing certain revenues and liabilities on an accrual basis. Mr. Hutvagner has agreed to effect such changes.
The monthly financial reports and audited yearly statements were discussed. WPCC reports will now reflect compiled information similar to the auditor’s year end reports.
Staffing and internal controls for WPCC accounting was discussed. Subject to full Commission approval, the WPCC will hire Ms. Nosal part time to effect the improved accounting and reporting procedures, and institute as necessary a system of internal control.
Proper accounting and function of the Sewer Assessment Fund was discussed. Ms. Nosal will be gathering the appropriate Connecticut General State Statutes regarding the Sewer Assessment Fund to confirm WPCC and Town compliance.
Other than as discussed above, no motions were made and no actions were taken at this meeting.
