Ms. Ketcham: I would like to call this meeting to order at 4:40 p.m. This is the annual town budget meeting and the first order of business is to elect a permanent moderator. Are there any nominations?
Ms. Grande: I nominate Judge Emerson.
Ms. Ketcham: Is there a second?
Mr. Lazzaro: Second.
Ms. Ketcham: Judge Emerson has been duly nominated and seconded. Are there any other nominations? Hearing none, all in favor of Judge Emerson signify by saying aye.
Audience: Aye.
Ms. Ketcham: Anyone opposed? His nomination is unanimous and I turn the meeting over to Judge Emerson.
Judge Emerson: Thank you. As the first item of this meeting this afternoon I would like to call upon Michele Grande, Town Clerk, to read the warning of the meeting.
Ms. Grande: WARNING: NOTICE OF ANNUAL TOWN BUDGET MEETING
The Legal Voters in the Town of Redding, Connecticut, and those
entitled to vote therein are hereby warned and notified to meet at
the Annual Town Budget Meeting to be held in the Hearing Room of
the Town Hall Office Building in Redding, Connecticut on Thursday,
April 20, 2006 at 4:30 P.M., EDT for the following purpose:
“To consider and take action upon the recommendation of
the Board of Finance to appropriate the sum of $39,444,480
for the annual budget for the Town of Redding for the fiscal
year July 1, 2006, to June 30, 2007. If on the recommendation
of the Board of Selectmen, this issue has been submitted to
referendum, the purpose of the Annual Budget Meeting shall
be to set the date and time for the referendum.”
To do any and all things legal and necessary to accomplish the
above named purpose and take any other action that may legally
and properly come before the meeting.
The anticipated appropriation of $39,444,480 will not have a tax
increase. Mil rate will remain at 22.74.

Judge Emerson: The motion has been made and seconded. Is there any discussion?
Hearing none, I will ask all in favor, say aye.
Audience: Aye.
Judge Emerson: Opposed? The motion is carried. I have also received a return certifying as to the publication of the warning of this meeting signed by Redding’s Town Clerk, Michele Grande, I direct that the certification be recorded at length with the doings of this meeting in accordance with the requirements of Section 7-4 of the Connecticut General Statutes. I have also received from the Board of Selectmen the notification indicating that they have, pursuant to the Connecticut General Statutes, Section 7-7 to remove the matter before this matter to a vote on the annual budget going to referendum. So the only item this afternoon will be to determine the date of the referendum. Is there any discussion on this matter? Do we have a date to
schedule?
Ms. Ketcham: Yes, I move that we set the date for the referendum for Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at the Redding Community Center with the polls opening from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Judge Emerson: I have received a motion that we the referendum be set for Tuesday, May , 2006 at the Redding Community Center between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Is that correct?
Ms. Ketcham: That is correct.
Judge Emerson: Is there a second to that motion?
Ms. Moisio: Second.
Judge Emerson: The motion has been seconded. Is there discussion? Hearing none, all in favor signify by saying aye.
Audience: Aye.
Judge Emerson: All opposed? The motion is carried unanimously. Is there any other business before the meeting? Being none, I will entertain a motion to adjourn.
