Election law provides that the successful candidate for First Selectman and the two Selectmen candidates who received the most votes shall serve as a three-member Board for a term of two years. Redding's Board of Selectmen meets on the third Monday of the month (or as posted), 7:30 p.m., at the Town Hall and welcomes input from residents. They are First Selectman Natalie T. Ketcham (R), Selectman Donald Takacs (R), and Selectman Julia C. Pemberton (D).
Our Board of Selectmen carries out the acts, policies, and ordinances of the Town Meeting and "superintend the concerns of the Town, adjust and settle all claims against the Town, and draw orders on the Treasurer for their payment." The Selectmen appoint members of the Board of Ethics and the Park and Recreation Department. They fill interim vacancies on the Planning and Zoning Commissions and the Zoning Board of Appeals, and they select alternates to serve on the Planning and Zoning Commissions. Members for Commission on Aging and Conservation Commission are appointed by the First Selectman.
