Meeting Minutes
January 29, 2008
Present: Miller, Takacs, Ketcham
Mrs. Ketcham called the January 29, 2008 meeting to order at 7:35 pm.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion: move that the minutes of the January 16, 2008 and January 17, 2008 meetings be accepted as submitted. Miller. Takacs. Approved Unanimous.
RESOLUTION FOR STATE MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM
The State of Connecticut requested a current resolution for the matching grant program for the operation of Demand Responsive Transportation for Elderly and Disabled persons.
Motion: Resolved that Natalie T. Ketcham, duly elected Redding First Selectman is authorized to negotiate and execute all necessary agreements with the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation. Miller, Takacs. Approved. Unanimous.
FISCAL YEAR 2008-09 BUDGET DISCUSSION
Highway Department: Superintendent Bruce Sanford reviewed his proposed 2008-2009 budget. The plans and costs for roadway work was reviewed, along with personnel needs and purchase of a large piece of equipment
Mark Twain Library: Representatives of the Mark Twain Library presented a revised request resulting from revisiting the budget revenues and expenses. The plan includes extraordinary measures which will reduce expenses through Sunday closings. They also presented a proposal to create a formal Town-Library partnership.
The Board of Selectmen reviewed the major increases in the total town budget. Mr. Hutvagner noted that the Health Insurance estimate for next year was received today and is about $100,000 less than anticipated. Additional levels of reduction within the budget were discussed.
Another meeting was scheduled to complete the work on the budget.
