January 29, 2007

 

Present:  Ketcham, Miller, Takacs

Also present:  staff and one member of the public and S. Wolf of the Redding Pilot

 

Mrs. Ketcham called the January 29, 2007 meeting to order at 5:37 pm in the Conference Room of the Redding Town Office Building.

 

DISCUSSION AND ACTION ON FISCAL YEAR 2007-08 BOARD OF SELECTMEN BUDGET

The Board of Selectmen discussed details of the proposed 2007-08 budget.

 

Assessor Melinda Fonda was present to provide additional information regarding the plans and budget for the GIS system.

 

Zoning Enforcement Officer Tom Gormley was present and spoke in support of the vehicle and additional support that is needed for the Zoning office.

 

Three representatives of the Mark Twain Library Board addressed the needs of the library and provided additional financial information.

 

Health Officer Doug Hartline presented a proposed fee schedule reflecting changes.  The increases in fees for septic permit, soil tests, well permits, restaurant inspection, etc. were reviewed.

 

Motion:  Move that the Redding Board of Selectmen approve the 2007 Proposed Fee Schedule for the Redding Health Department effective immediately.  Miller, Takacs. Approved. Unanimous.

 

The capital budget and operating budget were reviewed.  Additional information was requested for some of the items. The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday February 5, 2007 to discuss the proposed budget further. 

 

ACTION ON REQUEST TO BOARD OF FINANCE FOR TRANSFER OF FUNDS FROM CONTINGENCY ACCOUNT

The Board of Selectmen will request a transfer of funds to provide funding for the schematic design and professional cost estimates for improvements to existing Town of Redding athletic fields.  The estimate for the work is $29,000.  The Board of Selectmen is requesting a transfer of $18,500 from Contingency to the Selectmen’s management/consultant services account 112900-5240.  The additional expenses required for borings, soils scientist and cost estimator as recommended in the blades & Goven proposal can be appropriated from consultants services accounts 112900-5240 & 150850-5240.

 

Motion:  move that the Redding Board of Selectmen request Board of Finance approval for a transfer of $18,500 from the contingency account to Selectmen’s management/consultant services account 112900-5240 for the Blades & Goven completion of the schematic design and professional cost estimates for improvements to existing Town of Redding athletic fields. Takacs, Miller. Approved. Unanimous.
