Police Chief Fuchs and Highway Superintendent Sanford reviewed the road and recommended the addition of three or four speed humps; two between Meeker Hill Road and Barlow Drive, and one or two more between Barlow Drive and Cricklewood Drive. The administration of Joel Barlow High School has added speed humps to Barlow Drive and installed two humps in the senior parking lot.
Motion: move that the Redding Board of Selectmen approve the installation of speed humps on Turney Road, with number and location to be determined by Police Chief Fuchs and Highway Superintendent Sanford. Takacs, Miller. Approved. Unanimous.
DISCUSSION ON ATHLETIC FIELD IMPROVEMENTS
Chris Hocker summarized the report of the Athletic Fields Committee and the recommendations. Barry Blades of Blades and Goven presented details and schematic drawings of the recommendations. School administrators, Dr. Fossbender and Mrs. Sullivan, and Board of Education members, Mr. Simeonidis and Mr. Lewson, were present to hear the recommendations. Discussion followed. Dr. Fossbender will ask the building administrators to review the plans. A meeting will be scheduled with the building administrators and Mr. Blades will review the schematic drawings and plans with them.
The potential sites for the tennis courts were discussed. The Board of Selectmen scheduled a site walk for October 25, 2006 for all four potential sites.
The next step in the process is to identify variables, including construction manager versus clerk or the work or other oversight, additional improvements (landscaping, walkways, etc), soil analysis, and determination of schedule for bidding/construction. There will be further discussion at the next meeting.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
