Meeting Minutes
August 14, 2006
Present: Ketcham, Miller, Takacs
Also present: two members of the public and S. Wolf of the Redding Pilot
Mrs. Ketcham called the August 14, 2006 meeting to order at 7:30 pm in the Conference Room of the Redding Town Office Building.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion: move to approve the minute of the July 17, 2006 meeting as amended. Miller, Takacs. Approved. Unanimous.
Correction: page 2, under Fields Update, the correct name of the consultant firm is Blades and Goven.
UPDATE ON ATHLETIC FIELDS
Mr. Takacs reported the Athletic Fields Committee is very pleased with the assessment work Blades & Goven is bringing forward for review. The Committee is reviewing the material and will prepare a recommendation for the Board of Selectman. Blades & Goven will make a presentation at the time the recommendation is brought forward.
The Board of Selectmen set Thursday, October 5, at 7:30 pm to meet and hear the recommendation and presentation.
Frank DeSalvo, a member of the Board of Finance, asked if the Falcon Pride project for the Joel Barlow site would have any impact on the report from the Athletic Fields Committee. Mr. Takacs responded that the Falcon Pride project is related but not relevant.
DISCUSSION AND ACTION ON THE FACILITIES USE POLICY
Mrs. Miller reviewed the Facilities Use Policy revisions and the Board of Selectman agreed some points, and other areas will be discussed further. Mrs. Miller will forward a memo to the Park & Recreation Commission with a summary of the Board of Selectman discussion.
UPDATE ON HISTORIC PRESERVATION
Mrs. Ketcham reported the Historic Preservation Society is interested in holding an informative session to provide the members of the community with information/benefits of historic easements. The event will be scheduled for the fall.
Mr. Dean will submit his report, presented to the Board of Selectmen at the last meeting, to the Planning Commission for further discussion.
HERITAGE HOUSE UPDATE
The sale of Heritage House was highlighted in the publication, Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation. Bid packets will be available to interested parties, and will contain historic and conservation easement information. An open house is planned for September 8, 2006 at 9 am and a sealed bid process will conclude 30 days later.
CL&P
Mrs. Ketcham reported the CL&P project is in its final stage, dealing with the restoration of Umpawaug Road.
GEORGETOWN LAND DEVELOPMENT
The GLDC project is on the agenda for the State Traffic Commission meeting for Tuesday, August 15, 2006. The railroad crossing and signalization for the new crossing has been approved.
