2011-12 Extended Day Registration Information Will Be Available by February 1, 2011
Extended Day is an afterschool recreation program for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. The program meets in the Park & Recreation Dept.’s demountable classroom in the south wing of Redding Elementary School. Extended Day offers a safe and comfortable environment for fun and games, after the regular school day has ended.
The program follows the regular school year calendar, closing for vacations and snow days but opening earlier than usual on scheduled minimum days (i.e., teacher conference, pre-holiday early dismissals) The staff at Extended Day provides the children with a variety of activity choices on a daily basis. A typical day would find some children playing out on the RES fields and playgrounds, some in the art room doing a craft project while others are in the Extended Day room building with blocks, playing board games or curled up on the couch with a good book. Special events are planned from time to time and advertised in a regular newsletter sent to each participant’s home.
 Registration for the program and sign-up for specific days must be done through the Park & Recreation office in advance. There is a one-time per school year registration fee of $25.00 for the program. The daily rates are listed below. Children may be signed up on a regular schedule or on a sporadic basis. A manual with our rates and policies is available in the office.
