The Redding Health Department sends out ticks to the CT Agricultural Station for testing. Office hours 8:30am-2pm. |

Place the tick in a zip-lock bag and fill out the info form in the Health Department. |

The test will determine if the tick is infected with Lyme disease. |

Analytical results take 3-5 weeks. |

Lyme disease symptoms should be responded to IMMEDIATELY. |

Symptoms include flu-like symptoms with fever and chills, rash, fatigue, headache, joint aches, and muscle aches. |

Test results can provide helpful information, however all decisions concerning treatment should be made with your personal health care professional. |

The incubation period from infection to symptom onset can be as short as 3 days and as long as 30 days. |

A tick usually needs to be engorged and feeding for 24-36 hours to transmit the disease. |

Not all ticks carry Lyme disease. |
