The Redding Health Department sends out ticks to the CT Agricultural Station for testing. Office hours 8:30am-2pm.

Place the tick in a zip-lock bag and fill out the info form in the Health Department.

The test will determine if the tick is infected with Lyme disease.

Analytical results take 3-5 weeks.

Lyme disease symptoms should be responded to IMMEDIATELY.

Symptoms include flu-like symptoms with fever and chills, rash, fatigue, headache, joint aches, and muscle aches.

Test results can provide helpful information, however all decisions concerning treatment should be made with your personal health care professional.

The incubation period from infection to symptom onset can be as short as 3 days and as long as 30 days.
|

A tick usually needs to be engorged and feeding for 24-36 hours to transmit the disease.

10. |
Not all ticks carry Lyme disease. |
