Mr. Cotton called the March 20, 2006 meeting to order at 7:32 in the Hearing Room of the Redding Town Office Building.
DISCUSSION OF BUDGET WITH BOARD OF SELECTMEN
The Board of Selectmen was present to answer questions. A brief discussion followed.
DISCUSSION OF REDDING BOARD OF EDUCATION 2006-2007 BUDGET
Members of the Redding Board of Education and administration were present to answer questions. A brief discussion followed.
DISCUSSION OF REGION #9 BOARD OF EDUCATION BUDGET
Chairman Pemberton addressed the board regarding the Region #9 budget. The board is still in a discussion stage, but hopes to finalize the budget at their meeting on Tuesday. Mrs. Pemberton and Mr. Poltrack discussed the need to request additional funding to pay outstanding invoices, obligations and litigation expenses related to the building project. The board has not set a date for a referendum for the approval of up to $2,000,000, but is considering the same date as the vote on the budgets. First Selectman Ketcham urged the Region #9 to consider a different date.
DISCUSSION OF FUNDING FOR MARK TWAIN LIBRARY
The Mark Twain Library Association Treasurer, Janice Meehan, presented information regarding sources of funding and expenditures. Following questions and answers, Mr. Cotton suggested a Board of Finance members serve as liaison to the Library Association. Ms. Guitar agreed to serve in that capacity.
DISCUSSION OF TOWN INVESTMENTS
Treasurer, Peggy O’Donnell, was present for a brief discussion of the Town’s investments and the income stream generated by those investments.
