The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m. Commission members welcomed new Alternate member Hilda Rhodes.
I. Public Comment
Commission members discussed the launch of The Redding Directory of Information for Seniors and Their Families. Another informational seminar is being planned for Redding seniors and their families. Eloise Barron, Coordinator for Quality of Living at Home in Ridgefield and Redding, gave a brief overview that included an action plan. Once the Directory is distributed, the Quality of Living Program will have more presence in town. A tentative launch date of October 26, 2010 has been selected. Commission members discussed suggestions for speakers, topics and sponsors for the seminar, “Living at Home with Quality Care”. Commission members volunteered for various duties and responsibilities for recruiting sponsors, refreshments and decorations, and publicity. The following volunteers were
assigned Directory pages to proofread for accuracy including checking phone numbers and websites;

II. Approval of Minutes from July 7, 2010
The minutes were reviewed and approved as submitted.
III. Reports
Ms. Schiron presented the Municipal Agent’s Report
Ms. Sibilio presented the Heritage Center Report to the Commission. There were 190 van trips in July for a total of 1,337 miles. There were 162 trips in August for a total of 1,240 miles. Commission members discussed distribution and content of the newsletter and the acquisition of computers for the SeniorNet program.
Ms. Metzger had no new information about the Georgetown Development project. First Selectman Natalie Ketcham reported that everyone involved is still on board with the master plan. Ms. Kopfstein will write letters to the Planning Commission and to Rocco Trotta, expressing the Commission on Aging’s concern over the project timeline and the importance of keeping affordable housing for seniors in the forefront.

The next COA meeting is scheduled for October 6, 2010 at 9:00 a.m.
There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 10:35 a.m.
