REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 9:05 a.m.

 I.  Approval of Minutes from May 5, 2010
The minutes were reviewed and approved as submitted.

 II.  Public Participation
Eloise Barron, RVNA gave a brief presentation with regard to a preliminary draft of a Redding Resource Booklet, similar to the booklet that is available for Ridgefield residents. RVNA interns Samantha Hassett and Alexis Folz put the information together for the booklet. Commission members discussed suggestions for revisions to the booklet, including the addition of descriptors for various services. Ms. Rehme will ask Gail Schiron follow up with Ms. Barron on funding. First Selectman Natalie Ketcham arrived at the end of the presentation and was consulted on the use of graphics and photo’s for use on the cover of the booklet, and some other minor details.

III.  Reports
Ms. Schiron was not present. The Municipal Agents Report was submitted and reviewed. Ms. Rehme read the reports for April and May into the record.  

Ms. Sibilio presented the Heritage Center Report to the Commission. There were 185 van trips in May for a total of 1,423 miles. On June 9, 2010, the RVNA will be at Heritage Center for a mini Health Fair, with vision screening, blood pressure and anemia screening. The new lunch program began on June 1, 2010, and was well received. The Heritage Center is no longer working with the Side Street Café in Bethel to prepare luncheon meals. New Opportunities, an organization that is part of the Meals on Wheels Program, will be preparing the meals moving forward, and at a lower cost. Ms. Ketcham suggested publishing an article in the Redding Pilot to advertise the new luncheon program and the positive feedback.
Commission members discussed distribution of the monthly bulletin, which will include menu information.

Ms. Ketcham reported that there is a closing scheduled for June 29, 2010 for the transfer of the Georgetown properties.

Ms. Rehme reported that there will be a Quality Living at Home sub-committee meeting held on June 23, 2010. Commission members discussed working with area churches to better advertise the program.

The Commission discussed members due for renewing their terms. Ms. Rehme announced that she will resign, and thanked Commission members for the opportunity to work with the COA.

There was discussion as to the possibility of a future wellness seminar addressing women’s health issues, and working with the RVNA.
 IV.  Adjournment
The next COA meeting is scheduled for July 7, 2010 at 9:00 a.m.
There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 10:17 a.m.
