Ms. Schiron was not present. The Municipal Agent’s Report was not available.
Ms. Sibilio presented the Heritage Center Report to the Commission. There were 148 van trips in April for a total of 1,208 miles. The Commission discussed a more formal plan of distribution of the newsletter. One suggestion was to make it a monthly publication since the cost of postage is no longer necessary.
The date of the Spring Tea has been changed from May 25th to May 27th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Invitations still need to be made. However, there is a concern that the date is too close and may again be changed.
The June closing with the new investor for the Georgetown Development Project is still on track.
A QLAH meeting with Mr. Crocker, Ms. Cianci and Ms. Rehme and a community member - Frank DeSalvo was held on April 26th to discuss Quality of Living at Home in Ridgefield and Redding. Mr. Crocker said that there are plans for Quality of Living Program presentations at St. Patrick’s and Christ Church to inform the community about the QLAH programs. There will also be a booth at Georgetown Day on June 13th. Another educational seminar may be planned for Fall.
Ms. Rehme reported that she attended a seminar with regard to legal issues of volunteer programs. The ProBono Partnership is a group of volunteer lawyers who provide free legal service to non-profits that use volunteers. Issues discussed included liability insurance, the importance of doing background checks on anyone offering to volunteer. Organizations need to provide a clear understanding by all parties of department and Town policies and procedures to the volunteer. Their website is www.probonopartnership.org/request.htm .
