WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m.

   I.  Approval of Minutes from July 1, 2009

The minutes were reviewed and several minor typographical corrections were made and Sam Crocker’s name was removed from the list of attendee’s. The minutes were approved as corrected.  

II.  Reports

Ms. Sibilio presented the Heritage Center Report to the Commission. There were 213 van trips in August for a total of 2,138 miles. Commission members discussed new programming, ways to update the current Heritage Center advertisement in the Redding Pilot in order to attract more interest and starting a website. The Commission also discussed quality of life options for retirement and offering this information to the public as an educational tool in a seminar format. Working with Meadow Ridge staff on these issues may be possible.
Ms. Schiron presented the Municipal Agents Report to the Commission. Continuing revisions to the Meals on Wheels program was discussed. Commission members had concerns with regard to nutritional content of the meals, and if there could be a method to check it.
Ms. Metzger had nothing new to report with regard to Senior Affordable Housing on the Georgetown Land Development site. First Selectman Natalie Ketcham reported that the grant money was received and is to be used to install two intersections.

Flu shots for seniors will be available on November 5, 2009.  

III.  Adjournment
        The next COA meeting is scheduled for October 7, 2009 at 9:00 a.m.
        There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 10:10 a.m.
