There was an article in the Redding Pilot on April 10th with regard to restocking the food pantry. Church groups will be re-stocking the pantry within the next month. There is a program at the Danbury Post Office on Backus Avenue that distributes food for local pantries. Up until now there has been no one available to pick up the food in Danbury and bring it back to Redding. Ms. Hayes has 3 drivers who will do this.
Ms. Sibilio presented the Municipal Agent’s monthly report on behalf of Ms. Schiron.
Ms. Sibilio presented the Heritage Center Report. There will be a fundraiser on September 6th ;
tables will be rented out so individuals can sell handcrafts or other items.
There is a need for an aerobics instructor.
Ms. Rehme reported applying for the SeniorNet grant at $3,000 and received $5,000. There was a second grant for Municipal Agent funding for $1,500 and $3,450 was received. Some of the money will be used to purchase updated equipment.
To cut back on costs, the newsletter will not be sent out every month – some months will be combined.
The Heritage Center van will be positioned at Town Hall during the Memorial Day Parade. We do need some decorations such as helium balloons or flags.
There was no affordable housing update.
IV. Mark Twain Library Centennial in 2008
Ms. Whitham reported that the press release went out last week but publication was delayed. It may publish this week. Invitations for the Celebration Tea will be mailed on May 11th. The Tea will be held June 12th at 3 p.m. in the Community Room. Included with the invitation will be a questionnaire. Volunteers are needed to cook and bake for the Tea. Ms. Whitham thanked Ms. Bonfanti for working on the invitations. Ms. Bonfanti suggested taping conversations with attendees of the Tea.
