The Conservation Commission consists of seven members appointed by the First Selectmen. They are appointed to four year terms which run November 1st to October 31st.
The Conservation Commission was established in 1964 “for the development and conservation of natural resources in Redding.” It maintains an index of both public and private open space land areas and has established trails for hiking, riding, and cross-country skiing. This Committee prepares the Open Space Plan as a supplement to the Town Plan of Conservation and Development, including an updated open space map. The 2008 Plan is on the Town website. Inland Wetlands Commission
In 1973, the Conservation Commission was authorized by the Town of Redding to act as its Inland Wetland Commission and promulgate regulations to protect Inland Wetlands and Watercourses. These regulations describe what activities are considered “Regulated Activities” and define the inland wetland areas within the Town. The Commission periodically updates the Inland Wetland mapping available at the Old Town House.
The Conservation/Inland Wetlands Commission meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Old Town House (or as posted).
Inland Wetland Regulations, Licenses and Applications
All regulated activities require an Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Application. This application, if approved, provides the applicant with a five-year license to conduct the regulated activity described in the applications – subject to limitations and/or conditions set as part of the application approval process.
