MINUTES

Tuesday, May 18, 2010
7:30 p.m. – Old Town House

Present: David Pattee, Chairman; Jeremiah Ross; William Hill; Frederick Schroeder; Joseph Beres; Wallace Perlman

Absent: Victor DeMasi

Also present:   Natalie Ketcham, First Selectman
                Doug Fuchs, Chief of Police

The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

I.      APPROVAL OF MINUTES     -Minutes of 5/4/10
                Site Walk Minutes-5/8/10-Redding Country Club, 109/125 Lonetown Rd.

On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of F. Schroeder, the Commission voted to approve the 5/4/10 Meeting Minutes as amended:  Page 2,  “Application  #10-09”,  add “A site walk was scheduled for Sat., 5/8/10 at 8:30 a.m.”.  J. Ross abstained.

On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of J. Ross, the Commission voted to approve the 5/8/10 Site Walk Minutes as corrected; change “regarding” to “regarding”.  F. Schroeder abstained.

II.     REGULATORY
Application #10-14, State of Connecticut D.O.T. (owners), Town of Redding (agents), Route 107, Georgetown.  To receive and discuss an application for improvements to roadway and drainage systems on Route 107 and installation of traffic signals within the regulated area.

C. Lynch from Georgetown Land Development Corporation was present in addition to a representative from the DOT.   The proposal was reviewed accompanied by drawings.

A site walk was scheduled for Fri., 5/21/10 at 5:30 p.m.

Application #10-12, Paul Shiverick, 226 Poverty Hollow Road.  Received 3/16/10.  Discussion and possible vote on an application to dredge 500+- of the Aspetuck River of sedimentation.  Site Walk 4/2/10.  Discussion 5/4/10.
Mike Lillis and Gene Nazzaro were present for the applicant.  D. Pattee noted receipt of an approval note from the Gregory’s in addition to a conditional approval from the Redding Land Trust subject to a performance bond.  

Placement of the removed material was reviewed in detail.  D. Pattee requested a letter granting a 65-day extension.  Discussion will continue.

Application #10-09, Redding Country Club, Inc. (owners), Richard S. Gibbons (agent), 109 and 125 Lonetown Road.  Received 5/4/10.  Discussion and possible vote on an application for parking and pool area improvements within the regulated area.  Site Walk 5/8/10.

Atty. Gibbons was present in addition to representatives for the Redding Country Club.  Revised drawings and plans were reviewed.  The Zoning Commission has referred the application to Milone & MacBroom for their review.  D. Pattee will contact B. Flanagan re: Milone & MacBroom report.

Discussion will continue.

Application #10-10, Joanne Thompson, 22 Wood Road.  Received 5/4/10.  Discussion on an application to restore existing rock wall and removal of tree stumps and grading within the regulated area.

J. Thompson was present.  She reviewed the proposal along with work already completed.

A site walk was scheduled for Mon., 5/24/10 at 5:30 p.m.

Application #10-11, Nancy  Bottger (owner), Daniel Conlon, AIA (agent), 10 Fairview Farm.  To receive and discuss an application for construction of new two-story addition plus foundation and expansion of existing deck within the regulated area.

D. Conlon was present along with Mr. Bottger.  The proposal was reviewed accompanied by drawings.  

A site walk was scheduled for Fri., 5/21/10 at 6:00 p.m.  D. Pattee requested stakes at the four corners of the proposed addition. Discussion will continue.

Application #09-11, Rod Cordle, 4 Rob Rider Road.  To receive and discuss an application/modification to extend current retaining wall within the regulated area.

An agent for Mr. Cordle was present.  The proposal was reviewed and a site walk was scheduled for Mon., 5/24/10 at 6:15 p.m.


Application #10-12, Region 9 Board of Education (owner), Walter Czudak (agent), 100 Black Rock Turnpike.  To receive and discuss an application for safety improvements at the JBHS Softball dugouts, Baseball 3rd baseline safety fence and replacing the original tennis courts with grass within the regulated area.

Mr. Czudak was present for the applicant.  The proposed improvements were reviewed and a site walk was scheduled for Mon., 5/24/10 at 5:45 p.m.  D. Pattee requested Mr. Czukak to indicate sediment and erosion control lines at the tennis court on the plans.  

Discussion will continue.

Application #10-13, Timothy and Margaret Rogers, 29 Station Road.  To receive and discuss an application for a house addition within the regulated area.

Mr. Rogers was present.   After review of the proposal, a site walk was scheduled for Fri., 5/21/10 at 6:30 p.m.
III.    CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

D. Pattee reviewed the price quote he obtained re: monuments at north end of Couch Hill preserve.

D. Pattee reported on his attendance at the brown bag lunch at N. Ketcham’s office and the desire for schools to utilize natural resources as educational opportunities.

F. Schroeder reported on the recent fair at John Read Middle School.


On the motion of J. Ross and the second of F. Schroeder, the Commission voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 9:35 p.m.
