The Commission inspected the area of the Aspetuck River proposed for dredging. G. Nazzaro outlined a procedure that would entail diverting the river flow with two water-filled barriers and placing a turbidity curtain between the two. Dredging would be done by use of a hydraulic dredging machine. Material removed would be pumped to a temporary stockpile area, surrounded by silt fence, allowed to drain, and then be moved to an area for spreading and seeding to the rear portion of the Mehan property next door.
The Commission inspected the temporary stockpile area and then the proposed disposal area that had the appearance of a wetlands and ponded water. Tussock sedge was noted growing in the area. M. Lillis indicated that wetlands soils testing would be done.
The site inspection ended at 6:15 pm.
