MINUTES
Tuesday, March 16, 2010
7:30 p.m. – Old Town House
Present: David Pattee, Chairman; Jeremiah Ross; William Hill; Joseph Beres; Wallace Perlman.
Absent: Frederick Schroeder; Victor DeMasi
The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
I. APPROVAL OF MINUTES -Minutes of 3/2/10
3/13/10-S. Keenan/P. Casillo, 417 Rock House Road
On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of J. Ross, the Commission voted unanimously to approve the 3/2/10 Meeting Minutes as amended: Page 1, second item under “Chairman’s Report”, second line, change “mps” to “maps.”
On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of J. Beres, the Commission voted unanimously to approve the 3/13/10 Site Walk Minutes.
II. PRESENTATION
Don Haines, Deer Warden, Redding Deer Management Program, 2009 Report
D. Haines reviewed the results for the 2009 season as well as goals for the 2010 season. Suggestions were made re: deleting and adding targeted areas.
III. REGULATORY
Application #10-01, Sean Keenan and Patricia Casillo, 417 Rock House Road. Received 3/2/10. Discussion and possible vote on an application for stabilization of hill and reforestation (grading) within the regulated area. Site Walk 3/13/10.
S. Keenan and Kate Throckmorton were present. K. Throckmorton reviewed the proposal details accompanied by drawings.
On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of W. Hill, the Commission voted unanimously to approve Application #10-01 with the conditions that the planting is done by hand and that the rocks are left in place.
Application #10-02, Paul Shiverick, 226 Poverty Hollow Road. To receive and discuss an application to dredge 500’+/- of the Aspetuck River of sedimentation.
Gene Nazzaro was present for the applicant. The proposal was reviewed along with details re: type of equipment to be used. Buzz Merritt, Vice President of the Redding Land Trust, requested information on this proposal. G. Nazzaro will confirm that the owner of the easement has been notified of this proposal as required. D. Pattee noted that the Department of Public Health and the water company are also required to be notified.
D. Pattee requested a letter from the neighboring property owner, the Meehan’s.
A site walk was scheduled for Friday, 4/2/10 at 5:30 p.m. The disposal location will be evaluated at that time.
Application #10-03, Town of Redding (owner), WMC Consulting Engineers (agents), Station Road. To receive and discuss an application for repair of the Station Road Bridge.
Dennis Scarco from WMC was present. The proposal was reviewed and several errors should be corrected in the plans.
A site walk was scheduled for Fri., 4/2/10 at 6:30 p.m.
IV. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
A Notice of Violation has been issued on Great Pond Lane.
D. Pattee reported on B. Flanagan’s inspection of the Corning’s pond on Newtown Turnpike.
A letter re: Riverbend was received.
D. Pattee is attending Section II, DEP training on 6/10/10.
D. Pattee and J. Ross visited Sidecut Trail.
On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of W. Hill, the Commission voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 9:10 p.m.
