MINUTES

 

Tuesday, April 1, 2008

7:30 p.m. – Old Town House


 
Present:  David Pattee, Chairman; Jeremiah Ross; William Hill; Frederick Schroeder; Joseph Beres; Victor DeMasi; Wallace Perlman.
 
The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
 
I.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES                        -Meeting of 3/18/08
                                    Site Inspection Minutes of 3/21/08
                                                                        M/M Longo, 710 Redding Rd.
                                                                        M/M S. Sennett, 281 Newtown Tpke.
 


On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of J. Ross, the Commission voted to approve the 3/18/08 Meeting Minutes as amended: Page 3, third paragraph, change to “Application #08-07, Scott and Tracy Sennett (owners), Tammy Zinick of “Permit Me, Please” (agent), 281 Newtown Turnpike”; Page 3, fifth paragraph under “Chairman’s Report”, change “3/27/08” to “4/27/08”; Page 3, sixth paragraph under “Chairman’s Report”, change “Science Day” to “Big Science Day”; Page 3, last paragraph, change “Endangered Land Coalition” to “Endangered Lands Coalition”. F. Schroeder abstained.

 

On the motion of J. Ross and the second of W. Perlman, the Commission voted to approve the 3/21/08 Site Walk Minutes.  W. Hill and F. Schroeder abstained.


 
II.   REGULATORY


 

Application #08-04, Fred and Deanne Klumpp, 42 Lonetown Road.  Received 3/4/08.  Discussion and possible vote on an application to install a basketball court, 30’x45’ within the regulated area.  Site Walk 3/15/08.  Discussion 3/18/08..

 

F. Klumpp was present.  He submitted construction/drainage details as requested.  After review of this new information, it was determined that J. MacBroom will be requested to evaluate this application and submit a report. 

 

Discussion will continue.

 

Application #08-06, Don and Linda Longo, 710 Redding Road.  Received 3/18/08.  Discussion and possible vote on an application to construct a detached garage within the regulated area.  Site Walk 3/21/08.

Discussion tabled per request from K. Throckmorton.  J. MacBroom will be requested to evaluate this proposal and submit a report.

 

Application #08-07, Scott and Tracy Sennett (owners), Tammy Zinick of “Permit Me, Please” (agent), 281 Newtown Turnpike.  Received 3/18/08.  Discussion and possible vote on an application for installation of an inground swimming pool with code compliant fence within the regulated area.  Site Walk 3/21/08.

 

T. Zinick was present for the applicant.  Site Walk findings were reviewed.  Ms. Zinick submitted requested information re: spoils pile location, amount of fill to be excavated, pool equipment location and location of placement of excavated materials if not all utilized. 

 

On the motion of W. Perlman and the second of J. Beres, the Commission voted unanimously to approve Application #08-07. 

 

B. Flanagan will be contacted re: Bilco door excavation.

 

Application #08-08, Barbara Stevenson, 17 Dahlia Lane.  To receive and discuss an application to repair/replace septic system within the regulated area.

 

Mrs. Stevenson was present.  The proposal was reviewed and a site walk was scheduled for Sun., 4/6/08 at 9:00 a.m.  The applicant was requested to put stakes at each end of the proposed location.

 

Application #08-09, John and Tina Crawford, 8 Mark Twain Lane.  To receive and discuss an application to rebuild (post fire) and enlarge home within the regulated area.


 


Mr. and Mrs. Crawford were present.  After review of the proposal, the Commission concurred that this is not a regulated activity.  The application fee will be refunded.

 


III.  CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
 


Helicopter flyover of Saugatuck Reservoir was discussed re: deer count.

 

Proposed HB 5852 was discussed re: Lyme Disease Control.

 

Possible new sites for controlled deer hunting were discussed.

 

J. Ross reviewed the status of possible new development on Hill Road.

 

F. Schroeder has scheduled Invasive Species Day on 5/24/08 at Saugatuck Falls.

 

 

On the motion of V. DeMasi and the second of J. Ross, the Commission voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 9:00 p.m.
