Historic Mining Tour of Georgetown Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 6:15 PM Branchville Station

Thursday, May 19, 6:15-8 pm. Historic Mining Tour of Georgetown (NRWA Annual Meeting Event). Local historian, Brent Colley, will lead a tour of historic Georgetown’s mining industry. Meet at the Branchville Station on the North end. The tour begins with a talk about the branchline and the mines in the Branchville area and continues with a walk around the station via West Branchville Rd. to show where the buildings were and discuss the railroad's role in the industry. Then tour members drive to the world-famous Branchville mine and hike down to talk about why it's significant. Refreshments at the Georgetown Saloon to follow.
